Electrical Engineer - Building Services

The Company

Our client is a well-established electrical contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality solutions across commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, and large-scale building services projects.

Due to continued growth and a strong project pipeline, they are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer within Building Services to join their Auckland Team.


The Role

You will play a key role in the design, coordination, and delivery of electrical building services projects across a diverse range of sectors.

Working closely with project teams, consultants, contractors, and clients, you will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle from concept design through to construction support and project completion.

Responsibilities

• Deliver electrical building services designs for commercial, healthcare, education, industrial, and public sector projects.
• Prepare electrical calculations, specifications, design reports, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Undertake power, lighting, emergency systems, communications, and building services design.
• Coordinate designs with multidisciplinary engineering teams, architects, contractors, and clients.
• Provide technical support throughout project delivery, including site inspections and construction monitoring.
• Assist with project planning, budgeting, procurement, and programme delivery.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant New Zealand standards, codes, and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to quality assurance processes and maintain high technical standards across all projects.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges while delivering practical and cost-effective engineering solutions.

Skills and Experience

• Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• 3+ years' experience in electrical building services design within New Zealand.
• Strong understanding of power distribution, lighting, emergency systems, and building services infrastructure.
• Working knowledge of New Zealand electrical standards, building codes, and industry regulations.
• Experience using electrical design and drafting software.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills with a practical approach to engineering design.
• Experience delivering projects from concept through to construction completion.
